SEARCH FOR SUSPECTS AFTER UNSUCCESSFUL HOME INVASION IN NEWMARKET

Posted on Friday May 03, 2024

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking suspects and appealing for witnesses after an unsuccessful home invasion attempt in the Town of Newmarket.

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 9:31 p.m., police were called to a residence in the area of Bathurst Street and Mulock Drive for a report of a home invasion. Officers learned that as the victim arrived home, two male suspects, both armed with firearms, exited a dark-coloured sports utility vehicle (SUV) and followed the victim up their driveway.

The victim confronted the suspects and a struggle ensued. At one point, the suspects attempted to force their way into the residence but were unsuccessful.

The suspects fled the scene in the SUV. There were no injuries.

Both suspects are described as male, Black, approximately 25, medium build, wearing surgical masks, black shirts and black pants. A third suspect was operating the SUV, however, no description is available.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident.

York Regional Police is reminding members of the community of the following:

  • Stay alert and aware of your surroundings
  • Members of the community should not try to fight back. Any resistance may cause the suspect(s) to escalate their level of physical force to accomplish what they intend to do
  • If you find yourself the victim of a crime, cooperate and be the best witness you can be
  • Remember as much as you can about the suspect(s), including a physical description and clothing
