Making off with 66 handguns and a high-powered rifle wasn't enough for the group of men that robbed Ontario Sporting Supplies in Vaughan on September 5, 2002.
Before leaving, they shot 40-year-old John Fullerton, a store employee, in the head. He died in hospital one day later.
He was one of three store employees present when the gun shop, located at 2951 Highway 7, was robbed at around 10:30 a.m. Four to six suspects, armed with sawed-off shotgun and a handgun, entered the store and smashed a display case to steal the weapons.
An investigation revealed that the men, possibly Hispanic, fled from the store in two stolen minivans, a maroon Plymouth Voyager and a green Dodge Caravan.
The Voyager was found just ten minutes after the armed robbery, still running with the passenger door open. It was parked in an underground lot on Gosford Boulevard, near Jane Street and Steeles Avenue.
Police also later recovered the Caravan, parked just minutes away.
