Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Unit have laid charges in connection with a missing woman from the City of Markham.
Ying ZHANG was last seen on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at approximately 10:40 a.m. in the area of Woodbine Avenue and Steelcase Road. ZHANG has not yet been located.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, investigators charged a suspect. Investigators have released images of the accused and are searching for additional witnesses in the area at the time. Images of a suspect vehicle are also being released.
A white Ford van was seen in the area and a suspect was seen with a large green wheeled bin near the van at the time of ZHANG’s disappearance. There is information that the suspect vehicle travelled to the Village of Kirkfield, in the City of Kawartha Lakes, on the afternoon of July 25.

- Kidnapping
- Forcible Confinement
- Aggravated Assault

- Ontario licence plate BZ43851
