Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking suspects in two separate carjackings that occurred in the City of Richmond Hill.
On Thursday, July 11, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the victim called police to report her vehicle had just been stolen at knifepoint by two suspects in the area of Highway 7 and Highway 404. The victim was approached by the suspects as she tried to enter her vehicle. After a short struggle, the suspects took her purse and fled the area in her vehicle and a black four-door sedan. The suspects are both male, with one of them wearing dark clothing, black mask and black sunglasses.
In an unrelated incident, on Friday, July 12, 2024, just after 4 a.m., police responded to a robbery call at a gas station in the area of Garden Avenue and Yonge Street. The victim told officers three suspects ran toward him as he exited to pay for gas. When the victim attempted to run away, they assaulted him, displayed firearms and threatened to kill him. All three suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle.
The suspects are described as Black males, wearing dark clothing and ski masks.
Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident.
