UPDATE – VICTIM LOCATED IN VAUGHAN KIDNAPPING

Investigators with the York Regional Homicide Unit have located 57-year-old Roberto MARCHIONI, in good health.

On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., Mr. MARCHIONI was located by a citizen, in the area of Highway 401 and Morningside Avenue, in the City of Toronto. Toronto Police Service officers attended and contacted YRP. He was suffering minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing. York Regional Police will continue to dedicate significant resources to find the suspects responsible for the kidnapping, as they are still at large.

We strongly recommend that the suspects involved in this kidnapping seek legal counsel and turn themselves in.

On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., the victim was leaving his place of business at 119 Westcreek Drive, near Highway 400 and Langstaff Road, when he was confronted by two suspects who assaulted and forced him into a grey 2020 Honda CRV LX before fleeing the area. They were last seen exiting to Langstaff Road and southbound on Highway 400. Investigators believe a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was involved.
