Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking suspects and witnesses after shots were fired at a home in the City of Richmond Hill.
On Friday, July 19, 2024, around 1 a.m., the complainant called police to report someone had just fired shots at his house, in the area Elm Avenue and Springbrook Drive. When officers arrived, they located a number of bullet casings on and around the driveway and damage to several walls and ceilings within the home. There were three residents in the home at the time. No one was injured.
Video from the area shows two suspects approach the area on foot, fire off several rounds and then run away. A dark coloured sport utility vehicle (SUV) with tinted windows is then seen leaving the area. Video of the incident can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/6kD1fWnGo6o
Investigators believe the incident is targeted.
Investigators are seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone who may have captured dashcam video on the roadways at that time. Anyone who has not yet spoken to police is asked to please come forward.
The investigation is ongoing.
