Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a 17-year-old youth in connection with a fatal collision in the City of Richmond Hill.
On Saturday, August 17, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Bayview Avenue and Bethesda Sideroad. When officers arrived, they located a black, two-door hatchback in the ditch. There were seven youths in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Multiple injuries were reported with two occupants suffering life-threatening injuries. One of whom, a 17-year-old male from Richmond Hill, has since passed away as a result of those injuries. A 16-year-old female from Richmond Hill remains in a life-threatening condition.
A 17-year-old male, from Richmond Hill, has been charged with Dangerous Operation Cause Death and Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm x4.
Investigators continue to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle, a black, two-door hatchback, in the area at the time or to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
