Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are investigating multiple instances of rocks thrown at moving vehicles in the City of Markham and the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
Since the beginning of September, 2024, there have been multiple instances of mischief and vandalism in which suspects deliberately threw rocks at vehicles. The most recent incidents were reported on December 1, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., in the area of Main Street and Park Drive, Stouffville.
The latest information involves a light-coloured sport utility vehicle.
York Regional Police are working in coordination with our partners at the Ontario Provincial Police, who are actively investigating several similar incidents in the area of Highway 48 and Major Mackenzie Drive. Our investigators want to remind anyone that has been the victim of an incident to please report it to police; we are following up with all leads and information that has been provided.
Investigators are also appealing to the public for help identifying the suspects and vehicles involved. We are looking for anyone that may have dashcam from any of these incidents. A list of the dates and locations for these incidents can be found here.
YRP also want to remind the public of the CCTV installed at several intersections across the region which we are hoping will provide additional information to forward this investigation.
