Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit have charged a 19-year-old man for sexually assaulting a youth in the City of Richmond Hill.
In October of 2024, the victim met the suspect through a social media application aimed at young people. The two had communicated for several days before meeting in person.
On October 21, 2024, the victim met the suspect in the City of Richmond Hill. The suspect drove the victim to a location where he sexually assaulted them.
Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect as they believe there may be additional victims and are encouraging them to come forward. The suspect is known on social media as “Aria” and “Aria_abu416”.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
