SUSPECT SOUGHT FOLLOWING HOMICIDE IN VAUGHAN

Investigators from the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking a suspect and appealing for witnesses following a daytime shooting in the City of Vaughan.

On Friday, August 9, 2024, at 2:12 p.m., police responded to a residence in the area of Islington Avenue and Kiloran Avenue for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, a man was located suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a trauma centre where he was pronounced deceased.

He has been identified as Jorge-Ivan NAVAS, 57, of Vaughan.

Suspect vehicle:

  • Black, 2013 Ford F150
  • Ontario licence plate BK15799
  • The vehicle was reported stolen and has not been located

Investigators are seeking assistance from the public in locating the vehicle and would like to speak with any witnesses who may have observed this vehicle in the area between August 8 and August 9, 2024.

Investigators believe this is a targeted incident and the investigation is ongoing.
