The York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau has charged a Community Support Worker after a vulnerable member of the community was defrauded of over $10,000.
On November 24, 2023, a family member of the victim reported to police that between 2021 and 2023, more than $10,000 had been withdrawn from the victim’s account. The victim, who is a vulnerable member of the community, would not have been able to complete these transactions themselves.
Following a thorough investigation, a person employed to assist with the victim’s daily living and financial support was identified as a suspect.
York Regional Police is releasing an image of the suspect as investigators believe there may be additional victims. The suspect worked for multiple organizations that assist the most vulnerable members of our community.
