Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit (HUU) have charged two youths after an armed robbery and a failed carjacking in the City of Toronto.
On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at approximately 5 p.m., HUU were conducting an investigation into a stolen Honda Civic linked to armed robberies across York Region. The vehicle was seen in the area of Bloor Street West and Dovercourt Road. Two suspects exited the vehicle and committed an armed robbery at a cell phone store.
During the robbery one of the suspects struck a victim in the head with a hammer. As a result, the victim sustained minor injuries.
The suspects then traveled to the area Landsdowne Avenue and Wallace Avenue where they attempted to carjack a Mercedes GLC300, stealing the keys from the victim, but were unable to steal the vehicle.
Before officers could intervene, the suspect abandoned the robbery and fled in the stolen Honda Civic.
With the assistance of the Air Support Unit, HUU conducted surveillance of the suspect vehicle. At approximately 8:15 p.m., the suspect vehicle was followed to Goldwin Avenue and Jane Street, where two suspects were arrested.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident.
