APPEAL FOR WITNESSES IN 2023 VAUGHAN HOMICIDE OF A MORTGAGE BROKER

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are renewing their appeal for witnesses in a 2023 homicide of a 50-year-old man in the City of Vaughan.

On Friday, September 1, 2023, at 2:25 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a call for an injured person at a residence in the area of Laskin Drive near Ilan Ramon Boulevard. Attending officers found a deceased male inside the house with a significant head injury. The death was deemed to be a homicide.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh “Rick” JOSHI, 50, of Vaughan.

Through the continued investigation, police have identified a black Porsche 911 Turbo made between 2006-2009 as being related to this investigation, as well as this image of a suspect.

Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance and are looking to speak with anyone that may have information surrounding this incident. Any witnesses, or anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage of the area who has not yet spoken with police, are urged to come forward as soon as possible.
