Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are appealing for witnesses following an attempted carjacking in the City of Richmond Hill.
On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., police responded to an attempted carjacking in the area of Bathurst Street and Canyon Hill Avenue. The victims had been outside of a residence in a rented Ferrari SF90, when a black sport utility vehicle pulled up and at least three suspects exited the vehicle, armed with at least one firearm.
The victims were threatened at gunpoint and their valuables were stolen, including keys for a BMW and a Porsche. The suspects attempted to steal the Ferrari, but were unsuccessful as they could not locate its keys. The suspects fled after a victim managed to contact police.
No vehicles were stolen and there were no injuries were reported.
Investigators are looking for at least three suspects that are described as male, Black, and wearing dark clothing.
Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident.
