Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit have laid Breach of Release Order charges against a teacher and hockey coach convicted of two counts of Sexual Interference against a child under 16 while he was awaiting sentencing.
In February 2022, an investigation began into a hockey coach after officers received information regarding a sexual assault. The victim was known to the offender through participation in hockey programs.
On September 6, 2024, Kelvin Cheuk-Ho LEE was convicted of two counts of Sexual Assault in the Superior Court of Justice and due to be sentenced on April 25, 2025. LEE was released on bail with conditions that include he not associate with children under the age of 16.
In April 2025 evidence was obtained that LEE had violated conditions of his release in the City of Markham and has been charged with two counts of Breach of Release Order.
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are releasing an updated photo of the accused as they believe LEE may have attended other locations and are asking any witnesses to please come forward.
A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
