WITNESSES SOUGHT AFTER SEX ASSAULT IN VAUGHAN

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit are searching for a suspect and witnesses after a sexual assault in the City of Vaughan.

On Friday, November 8, 2024, at approximately 7 a.m., the female victim was waiting for a bus in the area of Countryside Road and Bramalea Road in the City of Brampton. The suspect approached her in a black sedan, presented himself as a rideshare driver and offered her a ride.

The suspect drove the victim to the area of Highway 27 and Nashville Road in Vaughan where he sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to get away and two bystanders in a grey or white vehicle assisted the victim. The suspect then fled the area.

The suspect is described as male, Indian, 23 to 25 years, black hair, black eyes, a thin build, 5’6”, with a full beard approximately two inches in length, driving a black sedan.

Investigators are looking to speak with the bystanders that assisted the victim.

York Regional Police is reminding the rideshare public to always verify the vehicle, licence plate, and driver.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
