Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged two adults and four youths following a commercial robbery in the City of Markham.
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, shortly after 12 p.m., police responded to a commercial robbery at a jewelry store in the area of McCowan Road and Highway 7. It was reported that suspects were using hammers to smash glass cases.
As officers were close to arriving at the scene, it was reported that a white Honda Civic, believed to be one of the suspect vehicles, rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of McCowan Road and Highway 7. Multiple occupants fled from the vehicle and officers engaged in a brief foot pursuit.
Four suspects were quickly taken into custody. Two additional suspects were located hiding in the washroom of a nearby food establishment.
The occupants of the vehicle that was rear-ended sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
The Honda Civic was reported stolen on November 10, 2024 from the City of Toronto. A beige sport utility vehicle (SUV) is believed to be the second suspect vehicle involved in the incident.

At the time of the arrest, two 16-year-old males, a 15-year-old male and Trevone BALL-BARNES, 19, were out on release orders.
Investigators are currently seeking at least six additional male suspects, four of which were directly involved in the robbery and at least two acting as getaway drivers.
The investigation is ongoing.
