APPEAL FOR WITNESSES FOLLOWING COMMERCIAL ROBBERY IN MARKHAM

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking a suspect and appealing for witnesses following a commercial robbery in the City of Markham.

On Friday, February 21, 2025, at approximately 7 p.m., police responded to a robbery at a grocery store in the area of McCowan Road and Bur Oak Avenue. The complainant told police a male suspect was talking with an employee at the checkout when he pointed a knife at them and took a quantity of cash from the register.

The suspect fled on foot through the plaza parking lot, toward Emery Hill Boulevard.

Suspect description:

  • Male
  • 40-50 years old
  • Tan complexion
  • Middle Eastern accent
  • Wearing a black jacket, black baseball hat, dark-coloured mask, thick gold bracelet/watch

The investigation is ongoing.
