York Regional Police is warning the public about the increase of contaminants found in street drugs that could render naloxone ineffective. The warning follows three opioid-related deaths which occurred within 24 hours in March.

Two men are facing numerous charges, including First Degree Murder, in relation to a March 2025 homicide in the City of Markham.
On Friday, March 7, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., police responded to a shooting at a residence on Solace Road. When officers arrived, they located a man and a woman inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both transported to a trauma centre where the woman was pronounced deceased.
