Future ACES Positive Ticket Program

Officers talking to teens

Developed in partnership with the Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation, the Future Aces Positive Ticket Program rewards young people who are "caught in the act" of demonstrating positive behaviour and good decision-making skills.

Handed out by police officers, the tickets explain the attributes of the Future Aces philosophy which promote Attitude, Cooperation, Example and Sportsmanship.

York Regional Police Community Services Officers launched the initiative in September 2007 by implementing the Future Aces Positive Ticket program in schools and the community to promote relationships between officers and young people.

Founded in 1987, the Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation is a non-profit, registered charitable organization. The foundation works in connection with hundreds of schools and organizations across Canada to celebrate successes and foster positive behaviour in youth.

Park Ambassadors

The Park Ambassador program was created in partnership with local municipalities and citizens to watch over greenspaces in the Region of York. Citizens volunteer their time to monitor their local park or greenspace and report concerns involving loitering, graffiti and suspicious activity to the municipal contact. Park ambassadors also help promote upcoming events and activities within their community.

New ambassadors receive training from police officers and town representatives on duties, expectations and staying safe while patrolling the parks.

If you are interested in becoming a Park Ambassador, please visit your local municipality's website for sign-up information.

UNITED

York Regional Police presents...UNITED

Ending Youth/Gang Violence and Crime

UNITED is a public safety campaign funded by a grant from the Provincial Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy (PAVIS). The comic book and superhero character, while fantasy, shines a light on the cooperation and collaboration needed between our community and the police. It is only by working together - UNITED in the shared goal of building safer communities - that we can prevent and solve crime.

Launched in November 2014, the UNITED short film served as a public service announcement and premiered in conjunction with the York Regional Police Youth Film Festival. Students across the region produced and shared A drawing of a superherotheir own films focused on anti-violence and police and community cooperation.

This unique and innovative program has been made possible by community volunteers and the skills and talents of York Regional Police members, who bring their past skills in film, art and design to their passion for crime prevention and youth engagement. While the approach is different than our traditional crime prevention messaging, our goal is the same: To break down barriers between police and the community. Together we can make a difference.
