HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING FATAL STABBING

Members of the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man involved in a vehicle theft in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, at approximately 6 a.m., police were called to a local hospital after a victim arrived suffering from a stab wound. The victim was accompanied by two other males, one of which left immediately after they dropped the victim off.

The victim was pronounced deceased a short time later. His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Through investigation, police determined that three males were involved in a theft of vehicle on Kersey Street at approximately 4:45 a.m. Later that morning, the stolen vehicle was recovered in a parking lot in the area of Weston Road and Sheppard Avenue West, in the City of Toronto. An unknown suspect was observed on video exiting the stolen vehicle and leaving the area on foot.

A 19-year-old man, Isaiah MENTOR LORGUSTE, from the of City of Montreal, has been charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle Over $5,000.

Investigators would like help in identifying the male that dropped the victim off at the hospital, as well as the male observed exiting the stolen vehicle in Toronto.

At this time, investigators are unsure of where the stabbing took place, but believe it is in the Richmond Hill or City of Vaughan areas. They are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to them to come forward, along with anyone who has video footage, including dashcam, cell phone, or security recordings from the areas around the time of the incident.
