About the Professional Standards Bureau

The York Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau investigates public complaints as directed by the Law Enforcement Complaints Agency (LECA).  The Professional Standards Bureau also conducts internal investigations as directed by the Chief of Police, including the review of incidents that require the involvement of Ontario's Special Investigations Unit.

The Professional Standards Bureau ensures that York Regional Police members carry out their duties in compliance with the Ontario Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, and the police service's regulations and procedures. Professional Standards also oversees discipline within the police service and all complaints, administered in accordance with the Ontario Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.
