The mission of the Police Community Advisory Council (PCAC) is to promote harmony, dialogue and understanding between all members of York Regional Police and the communities they serve.
The PCAC comprises roughly 25 York Region residents or other stakeholders, including representatives of diverse communities in our region.
The council provides the Chief with advice on race relations, perceptions of social equality, budget proposals, crime prevention initiatives and the delivery of specialized programs. The council also provides to the community, on behalf of the Chief, feedback on policing perspectives, hosts community awareness programs and strives to remain up-to-date with community and policing concerns.
While the PCAC remains an independent resource to police and community, it facilitates ongoing positive public relations on behalf of York Regional Police.
York Regional Police are fortunate to communicate with community liaison committees in each policing district. These volunteer advisory groups consist of local politicians, health officials, bylaw enforcement officers, high school students and other residents.
