More than a decade after it took place, members of the Sexual Assault Cold Case section continue to investigate a sexual assault on a dead-end street in Vaughan on May 8, 2008.
Just after midnight, a 20-year-old woman walked from Finch subway station in Toronto to the area of Steeles and Hilda Avenues. She suspected she was being followed by an Asian man in his late 20s, so she wandered into a nearby restaurant.
When she left, the man continued to follow her and eventually attacked her, punching her repeatedly in the face and body. Before she could reach her destination on Pinewood Drive, he sexually assaulted her and threatened her before fleeing on foot.
Investigators canvassed the area and issued many public appeals for information - including media releases in Korean and Chinese - but have yet to identify the suspect. At the time, he was 25 to 30 years old, 5'6", 130 pounds with a thin build. He had dark, short hair, brown eyes, was clean-shaven and wore a dark-coloured sweater and vest, jeans and a white baseball hat. He spoke with an accent.
